Pulled my truck out of the garage and heard a pop when I went over the garage edge probably an 1 1/2" lip. Immediately stopped and got out of the truck. Went to see what the noise was. The Glass rear hatch on the topper was hanging. The Hinge mounting block had sheared off right below the mounting studs. Removed the hatch so I could drive my truck without it falling the rest of the way off. Took it in to the authorized dealer. They contacted the company who said it would require a complete new rear hatch. $560+. Can't believe a $2500 topper doesn't last more than a couple years. I am sure it was just a faulty part and not really ARE's fault. The issue is that this is not a wear part and should not fail unless a defect in the part. Warranty is only 1 year so I am left high and dry. I contacted ARE parent company and never received a response back. I have super glued the rubber mounting block back together and will see how long it will last before giving this company any more of my money. Had high hopes. After the dealer install, I noticed several small scratches in the passenger side glass. The dealer apologized for not catching and said they would order a replacement glass. The next day they called to say that the shell would have to go back to the factory to have the window replaced.
