The cap leaked 2 days after it was installed in the side box. It was installed correctly and has nothing to do with the company that installed the cap it has all to do with how it was built by are. Sucks that you can't get anything that is built with pride, care, and knowledge of use of simple material.

I've owned 2 A.R.E. DCU caps and when it came time to buy the 3rd, I looked at Leer but didn't even get a quote from Leer because the past 2 were built really tough. Had my 3rd cap installed 5-17-16. The next day rain set in and I had breakers, contractors, starters and other electrical components in the passenger side tool box got soaked. Water was pouring in from the seal above the door. Also the door handle leaks too. The welds on the frame definitely look like a rookie tried running a bead which really makes me wonder how long it will hold up. The previous 2 caps had better quality welding and didn't leak. I guess some millennial that don't give a care put this one together.

Ordered fiberglass cap for company truck in 2008 and it performed excellently, despite overloading Thule rack several times. Paint matched according to code perfectly. After 200,000 miles it was time for a new truck and cap. My personal truck-2008 F150- was purchased used with a DCU cap and aluminum tube rack and I was greatly impressed with the finish and durability of cap and rack. Ordered DCU for 2016 Silverado and it has been a disappointment. Color clearly did not match code and cap was returned with fuel cap door for paint matching, on return, color still did not match. My concern was that because the rack would need to be removed for repainting, the drill point screws that attach the rack to the cap would not hold sufficiently upon re attachment. The local dealer stated that the A.R.E. techs are very experienced and the screws would be just as effective, maybe a good reply for a homeowner truck, but not convincing to someone with 30 years experience in construction. Front and rear rack supports on my F150 rack are longer and use two screws for attachment as shown on A.R.E. brochure. The new rack has short supports front and rear. Welds on cap and door frames are inferior and incomplete. I ordered the side tool box and again was disappointed when I noticed everything inside was soaked after the first rain. I will likely attempt to seal the leak myself, as I believe I can do a much better job. The cap has been on the truck for less than a week, I hope there will be no further problems.
