This is the third A.R.E. DCU cap I have purchased. While I've been pleased with the overall quality of the current cap, I am disappointed with the ladder rack that I purchased. Not the rack itself, rather the way it was installed. Screws on the drivers side barely caught the tubing and and the plastic track cover is pulled back exposing the screw track. Also the trim above the door on the drivers side is scratched like something was drug across it. For what I paid, this is unacceptable.

I submitted an inquiry via the ARE website, the next business day the dealer called and had a quote ready for pickup. After several changes and re-pricing we agreed on a topper and ordered it. The topper came in when it was supposed to, the dealer installed it rapidly, but there was a slight problem. The topper came in with the wrong rear door from the factory. The correct door was on the build sheet just not installed. The dealer called a got a new one coming, hopefully it will get here as quick as the topper. The dealer was great to work with, price was fair, and the topper looks like it is well built and will serve our purpose well.

Generally the topper is well built and should be very functional. I purchased the " E-Lock " option, only to discover that the rear door still requires a key. I "assumed" that all doors (3) on the topper would be electronically controlled. Had I known only 2 of the 3 doors would operate keylessly I probably would not have spent the extra money for that option. The led lighting is good, but the wires between the doors and the control switches are poorly fastened, leaving an oversized loop at each location. I realize extra cable is required to enable the door lights to operate, but there is too much cable left in a loop, unfastened, that will surely get damaged either putting items in or takeing them out of the side compartments.
