 Disappointed in the quality

This is my fourth ARE DCU Max.It is horribly built. It was color matched. The paint is full of carpet fibers from inside the topper. The driver's side door latch hits the door structure and will barely open. The seal on the front sliding window looks like it was attacked by a kindergarten class with scissors. The driver's side plate that rest against the truck has 17 holes drilled in it from self tapping screws. This is how they shipped it on a pallet. One of the plastic covers over the latches was dangling by one screw. The others were screwed in wrong and then repositioned and screwed again creating unnecessary holes. The topper is covered in masking tape from the paint job. The weather stripping on the doors is installed poorly. Does not seal against body. Daylight can be seen. This is a $6000 plus unit that took 15 weeks to build.

The DCU Max Cap is perfect for the work I do. R&S Truck Sales, Strassburg, Ohio did a great job helping me choose the appropriate options. Overall, the cap is well built and extremely practical. Definitely would recommend the auto locks on the cap doors! During assembly, one of the doors was installed improperly, but R&S made some adjustments to correct so we'll see how it holds up. Otherwise, great cap and glad I pulled the trigger!

DCU MAX - Good product but frame welds need improvement
DCUM Series : Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra

This is my second DCU. I owned a standard DCU for 8 years and then totaled my truck and sold it. For my new one I upgraded to a DCU Max with the .065 skin so I could minimize denting of the truck cap from the inside out. I also opted for the automatic door locks which is well worth the money and work with the trucks door lock key fob. I also like the door improve door latch mechanism and handles. The one thing that was an issue with my old DCU and has not been improved on my DCU Max are the aluminum square tube frame welds. On my old DCU the welds were breaking on the rear hatch and the vertical center frame at the front panel broke off. The reason for this problem is that only one seam / joint of the square tubing is welded. Three sides are exposed and all three seams / joints should be welded. There is no excuse for this lack of quality given the price and it that it will fail as I have experienced. Some of the single seam / joint welds are poor quality to begin with making a 3-sided weld even more important.
