Product Reviews : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

I have purchased MX caps and Bedrugs for my last three pickups, one on a Ford F-150, one on a Nissan Frontier (which I owned for 17 years), and this latest one on a Toyota Tacoma. The extra height of this model cap works great for me, making packing for cottage trips very easy, and gives my dogs that extra bit of headroom. It has also been great for spectating racing events, allowing me to sit inside the bed of the truck in a comfortable lawn chair protected from the blazing sun, enjoying a cool breeze blowing through the side vents. I only had the F-150 for two years and the cap and Bedrug performed perfectly. I had the cap and Bedrug for the entire 17 years of Frontier ownership and they both stood up amazingly well. I changed struts on the back window once, and had to repair the back window hinge after about 15 or 16 years of owners, but that was it - no other problems in 17 years!!! Even the window screens survived unscathed after all those years - not a single hole or a tear, even with my dogs being dogs.The only hiccup with that cap was it being shipped with the wrong side windows which caused a bit of a delay in installation at the dealer. This latest MX cap and Bedrug were only just installed yesterday. It originally arrived at the dealer for installation on Jan. 6, but the color did not match at all and it had to be sent back to be repainted. The new paint was much better. The Bedrug is a bit of a disappointment as it does not fit very well. The dealer did his best to arrive at a compromise between good fit at the back, not so good at the front vs good fit at the front and not so good at the back. Either way there were problems with the fit on both sides. Both the F-150 and Frontier BedRugs fit perfectly, so the problems with the one in the Tacoma are certainly a surprise. Hopefully Bedrug will help me find a solution. Overall - I am sold on A.R.E. and the MX cap - I didn’t even consider any other options.
