Product Reviews : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

The topper seems to be an outstanding product. It was just installed this afternoon and the initial inspection of the unit every thing appears ok. The installing dealer did a decent job but I would not rate it outstanding but I feel that is partial A.R.E.'s fault. The part of the installation I did not care for is the wiring of the third brake light. It was hardwired between the topper and the truck by the dealer. I feel that A.R.E. should use an EZ connector installation cable kit consisting of an EZ disconnect plug to allow easier removal of the topper without having to cut the current hardwired installation. This would make installation and removal of the topper an easier process. This cable kit should be part of the overall installation kit and custom made to fit the truck the topper was ordered for. From what I saw during installation the dealer used materials on hand, wire and crimp connectors, I have concern if the material used are really weather resistance and durable over a period of several years and in our weather conditions ranging from very hot and dry to fairly cold and wet.
