The fiberglass shell itself was quite good but when it came to the installation of the windows, rear glass door, pet screens and carpet lining there was some lack in craftsmanship. Windows are kind of jankey, one doesn't quite close all the way. The window screws are kinda jankey. Air and water get into the back where there is a little gap between the back window door and the bed of the truck. The window is a little better fit on one side than the other. The carpet lining wasn't really well done. I could have easily done a better job myself on the pet screens. For $2000 I just expected much better craftsmanship in all the details. The shell is fully functional and nice finish and all that but if you are expecting more than function and a pretty good look you're gonna be more unhappy than I am.

I purchased the Z series cap on recommendation from a friend. The cap arrived at the dealer within a few weeks and was installed there. The next day it rained and the cap leaked on all sides. I inspected and found not only water but a broken screw head laying in the truck bed (from the window trim) and I noticed the hatch seal extrusion is bent and prevents the glass from latching properly and there was a broken rivet head there also. For the cost of the cap and the reputation of A.R.E. I expected more. My wife called the dealer and was told that camper shells leak. I have owned several shells in my life and not one has ever leaked. That is the reason you buy a shell...to keep your stuff dry and safe. I am disappointed.

Excellent canopy for any truck! After the factory painted it to match my black GMC Sierra 1500, it looked awesome like it was just meant to be on my truck! Yes, I highly recommend this canopy unless you are wanting one that is higher than the cab. This one is perfectly even with the cab which makes it easier to haul a long board or whatever. Also, I'm really glad I included a roof rack for doing this. I guess I could even carry a canoe on it! I also like the LED 2 rows of lights inside of it. It looks cool & the lights turn on the moment the glass window opens. I opted for the keyless entry too. Push the FOB & you're in there! Totally Cool!
