| | | Color did not match Z Series : Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra
August 19, 2018 Posted by: JerryfromAZ
Let me start by saying that this is my second ARE topper. My first one had over 270,000 miles on it and was over 14 years old and looked like new. So when I purchased my new GMC truck there was no decision to make, l went to the dealer that I purchased my last one from and ordered another ARE Z series topper equipped exactly like my last. This is time my experience was totally different, and not in a good way. The first thing that was different was the added $150 change for the special paint. My truck’s color was GM’s “tri you coat frost “. Ok, I get it, I paid extra at the dealer so maybe ARE wasn’t out of place for the extra. The second thing different was the lead time, plan on 5 weeks plus. When the topper finally arrived the color didn’t match. I didn’t see the topper until after it was installed, if I had I would not have had it installed. The color was completely off. The dealer offered to send it back, but said it might not come back better and could be worse. That ARE doesn’t guarantee paint matches and would repaint one time only at no charge . None of this made me happy, considering that I paid extra for this special paint and the topper was going on a $60,000 truck. I worked out a compromise with the dealer, we split the cost to have it repainted locally. I think that ARE should have someone at corporate that can deal with these issues. As it is all problem resolution is through the local dealer. In fact ARE and the dealer made their problem my problem.
