On first road trip 4 days after purchasing the latch release failed to allow the door to open. Had to force tailgate open to access pickup bed to let dog out. After returning home that night I removed the cover over latch cables and found the crimps on the cables were lightly crimped and this allow the cable to slide free. I threaded cable back through the crimps and recrimped to secure cables.
