Product Reviews : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

This shell is excellent in quality. I particularly like the lift gate and the way it fits the lines of the vehicle. The paint matches very well. The LED interior light is good. The folding slider works nicely, as does the keyless entry function with the vehicle key fob. This is an excellent product. I only offer three minor comments for potential improvement (and these are minor as stated): I would have liked to have had a third key for the lock. Most key places do not have the proper blank to make an extra key but I did find this at a first rate locksmith. Secondly, I did get the Yakima Sport Tracks for the top of the shell for my kayak rack. The tracks are good, but mounted more narrowly than I would have liked them. I would have liked for the tracks to line up with the factory track strips on the cab. Another minor point but an opportunity for improvement. Lastly, the rear latch is high quality and works very well, but because it is rotational there is a potential to pinch your hand if you both rotate the latch and open it with the same hand. This is easily avoided by operating the latch with one hand and lifting the rear gate with the other. Also, this is only an issue if you have a meaty hand, so it will not matter to many people. All in all, I would buy this again if I did not already have it. Very good product.
