Product Reviews : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

When I went to have it installed the cap had several pits in the front left corner. They were painted over instead of being filled in prior to painting at the factory. The glass inside the cap was not finished smoothly. I had to pick fiberglass shards out of my fingers from incidental contact. From my perspective it was a blem that I paid full price for! Once on the truck the top of the cap was a lot lower than the top of the cab roof of the truck.It looked as if it were made for something else. The immediate noise that started when it was put on was more than annoying. Considering one of the selling points of the F150 was a very quiet ride.The gas mileage dropped1-2mpg. I went to see the deale I purchased it from and voiced my concerns about the wind noise. (on a Saturday 1st part of January2010) He said he would call ARE on Monday or Tuesday and see what they had to say. Then HE would call me with in a few days.I called a few weeks later to see what he found out.He was not in,but I was told he would be given the message.I called at least 3 more times and got the same song. He is out leave message I will give it to him. I have NEVER had he or anyone else contact me about this .It is October 2010. What is the bottom line here.Perhaps a fluke on the craftsmanship? Expect no customer service unless you are spending money . I will be replacing this truck soon and will shop for a new cap. I will look hard at other brands.I will not use this same dealer again!
