Bought my first ARE truck cap after 30 yrs of trouble free Leer caps. The cap was equipped with sliding and flip out windows... and cost about $2,700. Installation was fine and 5 weeks after getting the cap, one of my sliding windows shattered into thousands of pieces while sitting in my driveway. I called the installer and ARE and was told the window was not covered. I have to buy an entire new window assembly for over $650. The window was not damaged by a rock or anything else. Never had anything like this in the past. I am around many people with trucks, I’ll be sure to share my ARE experience with them.

| | | Poorly made and poorly engineered. This thing leaks like a sieve! LSX Series :

ARE puts a useless/decorative glass panel on top of it where the topper roof rises above the truck cab. The two attachment points leak water into the cab. Had the dealer fix it, it still leaks.
Water is also coming in other places yet to be determined.
The door back door/window is forward of the tailgate, to compensate for that they put a horizontal cover over the top of the tailgate. When you open the window, any rain water on the horizontal cover runs off under the back window, collects any dust that has blown in under the window to make mud, and drips this on the open tailgate or on your head/neck/clothes!
The rear window lock is extremely hard to operate. Hopefully that will be better after the lock wear a bit.

| | | LS II Tonneau Service for Replacement Parts LSX Series : Ford F150
September 12, 2019 Posted by: Drop Zone
I have been attempting to obtain a replacement part for this tonneau cover for months. This is also my second attempt to contact ARE, with no results. This is the second A.R.E. Tonneau cover that I have purchased from A.R.E.. I have had this run-a round-a-round before by A.R.E. but there will not be a third. Because of your poor, substandard service, I will never purchase another A.R.E. Topper. I will also do my dead level best to disseminate my experience to each and all that ask me about your products. For the cost of your products and your grandiose advertisements, one would expect better than substandard product support. I do not expect to hear from A.R.E., I haven't in the past and I expect no different this time. I will still seek to replace my $10.00 cheap Charlie lock cylinder with the replacement of the complete assembly at your quoted cost of $175.00. Just one more example of substandard service and price gouging for a part that should not cost more than $10.00. I have also contacted another dealer than those where I purchased my Tonneau cover. I have waited for this replacement part (complete assembly)from them in excess of two (2) months. Just one more example of your substandard service and product support. Thank you for your attention, and what is to be our last experience shared. Good luck with your future sales. I will do my best to pass on my less than stellar experience from A.R.E.
